While there are a couple of controversial characters this season, the two standout pairs are Jane and Shane, a stylish couple from New South Wales, and Alisha and Deanne, the self-described ‘Classy Bogans’.
And of course, these teams have already gone head-to-head more than once this season, particularly as jokes about mispronounced words or unknown food items have circulated the dinner table.
However, while Alisha and Deanne admitted to WHO that they’re happy to “take it” when they make a mistake, they quickly felt singled out and unfairly judged on the show, leading to a dramatic walk-out from Alisha during Angus and Simon’s Instant Restaurant.
This has sparked a mixed reaction from fans watching at home, with many calling it an “overreaction” and claiming “she took it too far”, while others reminding viewers to be kind and that audiences “don’t know what’s been edited out to have got her to that point”.

Alisha and Deanne unpacked this climactic moment, predicting how fans watching at home may respond to this reaction.
“I think [viewers] are definitely going to be, maybe at first, they’re going to be like, ‘Gee, well, they don’t really actually know anything,'” the pair said candidly. “Like some of the stuff we say, yeah, it’s pretty dumb.”
From asking what “chervil” is to saying that a palazzo “sounds delicious”, Alisha and Deanne aren’t afraid to admit when they don’t know something, and are happy to brush it off with a laugh.
Why do Alisha and Deanne think a lot of people will ‘relate’?
Despite knowing that their personalities may ruffle a few feathers, the “boganistic besties” also believe that a lot of viewers will “relate” to their real attitude.
“I feel like Australia will relate,” the pair said. “I’ve asked a few people, and said, ‘Do you know what a palazzo is?’ and they’re like, ‘No, not really.’
“But I think Australia will relate and be like, ‘What is chervil?’, like, you know, what is that? What is Jane using these big words for?”
Alisha and Deanne added: “They’re going to relate to us because we are so real, and we ask the questions.
“Some of the people around the table didn’t ask questions and we did. We’ve just got to put my hand up. So if someone could pull that up on Wikipedia for us, if we could just have our phone for a moment and look that up in [ChatGPT], that’d be great.”
