Now, a year after the show and subsequent relationship breakdown, Stu has a message for potential love interests that think he’s rolling in money.

“My dad built a very good business and my siblings and I help, but it’s by no means ours. He’s very clear and in charge. The business is his, not ours.”

Nonetheless, the 45-year-old who stands to one day inherit a hotel empire from his father – famed publican Arthur Laundy– says he’s used to butting up against preconceptions in the dating game.

“If people draw a conclusion because my dad’s like that, they’ve got to know me before they realise how off that is – I am my own person.”
