The Bachelor’s ninth season kicked off in 2021, but the experience was short-lived for some ladies vying for Jimmy Nicholson’s heart.
With 23 beautiful women but always fewer roses to choose from, Jimmy must quickly decide how he wants to distribute the flowers week in and week out.
Queue – the rose ceremony. With its anthemic music, pointed zoom ins and dramatic soundbites of women claiming they ‘simply don’t trust pilots!!’, there’s never a shortage of suspense built as viewers learn whose time in the mansion is up.
Once Jimmy has made his decision it is, of course, up to The Bachelor god Osher to break the news to the eliminated contestants. And, boy, has he nailed his sympathetic whisper over the years.
So who has had to return Osher’s consoling tone with an understanding smile before they pack their bags and exit the competition for good? Scroll down to find out.
Lauren Jenkins
During the first cocktail party of the season, Lauren, 29, didn’t receive Jimmy’s rose, prompting Osher to appear from the shadows and break the sad news in that ever-so dulcet tone.
Annabelle O’Regan
Along with Lauren, 28-year-old medical equipment installer Annaeblle O’Regan didn’t get to spend long in the bachie mansion before having to wave goodbye.
Belinda Robinson
Despite giving it her all in the photo shoot group date, which saw her hugging Jimmy’s leg and fake-fighting with Tatum over the Bachelor, Belinda and her hilarious personality unfortunately didn’t make it past the rose ceremony.
“So beyond grateful for this incredible once in a lifetime opportunity. ❤️,” she wrote on Instagram.
“I met the most inspiring, strong, intelligent, brave, beautiful, kind women who will forever be life-long friends.
“Thank you @thebachelorau for having me in the mansion, I am proud to be a part of #thebachelorau and @channel10au family. ❤️🌹,” she finished the caption.
Jacinta Boys
Jacinta, we hardly knew ye!
Although Jacinta made the group date, her role as ‘cleaner’ didn’t leave much room for her to shine.
She was sent packing along with Jacinta.
“Asking for tips on how to get into business class. Turns out, there’s only room for one Jacinta. This is the only time I’ll ever be sad to hear Osher say my name. What an experience, peace out!,” she wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of herself sitting with some of the other girls.
Chanel Tang
With an extended intro on the red carpet, we thought Chanel might be quite the contender. However, it wasn’t meant to be, and she was sent packing last night when sparks didn’t fly for Jimmy.
“No need to point out the exits Jimmy…I got this covered 😉,” she wrote on Instagram in an airline pun-filled post.
“Beyond grateful to have shared this experience with such an amazing group of women. Jimmy, no matter who you end up with at your final destination, you are one lucky man 🌹,” the flight manager added.
Maddy Allen
Maddy was the other unlucky lady left without a rose last night.
“I may not have gotten my love story with Jimmy, but I did fall in love with the incredible ladies that I was lucky enough to share this journey with! So grateful for this experience and the forever friendships that came out of it 💌 🌹,” she wrote on Instagram.
Tamlyn Leigh
Tamlyn was among the two left standing when Laura received the final rose last night.
“Jimmy wasn’t for me but these girls sure were 😍 Seems like not even @thebachelorau could help me 😂,” she wrote on Instagram.
“Who needs a boyfriend when you have friends like these 💁🏽♀️ (Just kidding, me, I do. PSA I’m still single.),” she joked.
Hannah Norman
Hannah was sent packing along with Tamlyn last night.
“I may not have received a rose but Osher whispering my name was just as good 🌹,” she wrote on Instagram.
“This has been a once in a lifetime experience. Even though I didn’t walk away with love, I’ve walked away with life long friendships 💕.”
Elena Louise
There aren’t many people who can say they’ve been dumped on national television dressed as a monkey, but Elena is one of those people.
The 33-year-old personal trainer was sent packing after the “spirit animal” themed cocktail party.
Ashleigh Freckleton
Despite winning the group date where she bared her soul via an avatar, Jimmy decided that he couldn’t see a future with Ashleigh and sent her home before the rose ceremony.
“It really was bananas but I’m so grateful for the experience. Jimmy wasn’t my person 🥺, but he really is an incredible guy and I really hope he finds the love story we’re all hoping for. 🦢✨” she penned on Instagram after her final episode aired.
“I appreciate the raw honesty of someone looking me in the eye and telling me the uncomfortable truth: ‘I’m just not feeling it.’”
She added: “It might sting, but I’ll take that kind of candor over ghosting any day of the week…
“I’ll also break my heart a thousand times if it leads me to the right person, so who’s next?”
Tatum Hargraves
In a move that rocked the mansion, Tatum decided she couldn’t see a future with Jimmy and decided to bow out of the competition.
Her exit came shortly after an awkward group date with Jimmy’s sister and cousin when she said that Holly acted differently around Jimmy than with the other contestants.
“When I realised my feelings weren’t progressing I came to the conclusion that mutually there is no chemistry between us. I respectfully don’t want to waste my time, nor Jimmy’s or take any time away from the women inside the mansion,” she wrote on Instagram the night her final episode aired.
“Jimmy, thank you for your time and thank you for wanting to get to know me. You were a true gentleman throughout this whole experience. I truly hope you find what we both came here looking for.”
Stevie Grey
Despite Tatum’s walkout there was still one more to go and Stevie was sent home during a rose ceremony.
“My time in this incredible mansion has unfortunately come to an end on the + side I get to walk away with my head held high and leave wearing this incredible dress,” she wrote on Instagram.
“I will be forever grateful for the memories I have made but most of all cherish the incredible friendships I have grown along the way.”
Sierah Swepstone
She was one of the mansion’s bigger personalities but after the school group date, Sierah was sent packing.
Her silent goodbye to Jimmy and confession that she had a feeling he wasn’t into “tall, corny bogans” is nothing short of iconic.
“Turns out Jimothy is not da one 🥺 But fellas, if tall, crude and obnoxious is your type then holla at me because no ones swooped up Sweppo yet,” she joked on Instagram.
Rebekah Modernel
During the rose ceremony, Rebekah made the bold decision to bow out of the competition on her own terms and said that her fellow contestants were the ones who got her through the tough times in the mansion.
“Top 9 was no easy feat! I honestly didn’t think I would make it past the first week after I met all the incredible women in the mansion,” she penned.
“EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. taught me something different and backed me more than I backed myself. The support I received from the women in the mansion is something I’ll never forget. They’re all remarkable, intelligent, independent and capable, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for the bachie class of 2021.”
Stephanie Lynch
She made it clear that she wasn’t a fan of pilots from the get-go, but after an awkward meeting with Jimmy’s mum, Steph was asked to leave.
“It should be illegal to look this good while crying,” she jokingly captioned a photo of herself crying to Jimmy at her final cocktail party.
“Hard to believe it wasn’t me at the end, I know… Thank you to everyone who supported my journey and came along with me for the ride – family, friends & strangers alike. Big props (ha ha geddit) to my pilot friends for tolerating my non-stop slander of the profession hahaha (I love you all, truly). Thanks @thebachelorAU for having me – it’s certainly been an experience I won’t forget anytime soon! Back to Azeroth I go..”
Tahnee Leeson
Tahnee was adamant that Jay had said she was hoping to take the runner-up position to further her career, but in the end Jimmy chose Jay.
Though she came out of the show with love and respect for herself and the friends she made on the show, Tahnee confessed on Instagram that she and Jimmy’s “incredible connection” was one of friendship.
“The respect I have for that man far outweighs the feelings I had and that’s the best scenario I could have imagined my ending to be. From the bottom of my heart I am so happy for @jimmynicholson and whoever he ends up with,” she penned on Instagram.
Laura O’Laughlin
Our hearts broke when Jimmy dodged a kiss from her on their single date, but we bet the hilarious Laura is moving on to bigger and better things!
“What an adventure that was! I may not have walked out of this experience with a relationship but I’ve gained some incredible friendships,” she wrote on Instagram, giving shout outs to her closest friends still in the competition, Jay and Ash.
“Jimmy, James, Jimothy. I might not have been your number 1, but I truly hope you’ve found the woman you deserve! ❤️ Thanks for all the laughs, the dozen or so roses & putting up with my ✨enthusiasm✨ for so long!”
Ash Lee
As she wrote on Instagram, “Sometimes it’s not about the fairy tale ending, sometimes it’s about the story.”
Dance teacher Ash just missed out on hometowns but admitted that though she didn’t find romantic love, she met “some amazing people whilst trying.”
“I know I was true to myself & that’s all I wanted to be, raw, real & respectful.”
0Lily Price
As the youngest in the mansion, Lily proved she was wise and mature beyond her years but alas Jimmy didn’t see a future with her.
The crane technician bared her soul and described it as “the most amazing and challenging thing” she’s ever done.
“When I signed up for this crazy experience I had no idea what I was in for, but I knew I was ready for love to come my way. Unfortunately sometimes things don’t work out, but it’s ok! I’m a big believer in everything happens for a reason. Getting to know a complete stranger and having a connection was truly extraordinary, and I have loved every bit of this journey.”
Carlie Hodges
Things didn’t look good for Carlie at hometowns when Jimmy described her as “calm, stable and predictable” but that didn’t stop fans yelling at their TVs when lawyer Carlie was sent home.
“My experience on @thebachelorau is something that I will never forget for so many amazing reasons. Having your whole character and personality under the magnifying glass is really daunting, but I learnt so much about who I am as a person and who I am, and want to be, in a relationship. I’m really proud of myself for being just me, including all the vulnerable and daggy bits!” she joked on Instagram.
Jay Lal
She made a great impression on Jimmy when she tried (and failed) to beat him in a game of chess but despite her awesome chemistry with Jimmy, nutritionist Jay ended up in third place.
1“Unfortunately, I never captured the King & found the Check to my Mate on @thebachelorau but what I can say is that I have met some amazing Queeeeens!” Jay wrote on Instagram after her elimination episode aired.
“Coming into this experience I promised myself these things… To stay true to my values, To stay in my own lane, Not bring anyone down to get ahead! That’s exactly what I did, so I leave with my head held high.
“I wouldn’t change anything from my experience, except maybe giving @ash_lee13 that advantage.”
