They may have won over the judges with their combined singing talent, but The Voice Australia’s first-ever couple competitors Jenna Hudson and Yorke Heath also stole the hearts of viewers across the country, with the couple celebrating their engagement on The Voice stage.
Competing in the series’ battle rounds, the couple faced off against one another for their place in coach Kate Miller-Heidke’s team, with the pair performing their rendition of Paramore’s The Only Exception.
“There’s something really magical about your chemistry. I know what it’s like watching when two people who are genuinely in love performing. You can’t fake that,” Kate shared, before making the tough decision to “consciously uncouple” the duo and send Yorke through to the knockout stages alone.
As Jenna prepared to leave the stage, Yorke interrupted the proceedings, asking Jenna to follow him downstage towards the judges.
“I know we’ve just had a big battle, but I think we found that through that, we can work really well as a team and baby, I want to be on your team forever,” Yorke shared as he got down on one knee.
Reflecting on the surprise proposal, Jenna shared, “I was so surprised when he asked me on stage. I had absolutely no idea what he was about to do. I felt a little awkward as I remember thinking, ‘It was the judges’ turn to talk, not ours!'”
The couple, who have generated a loyal following of over 1.5 million fans on Jenna’s TikTok, have been together for over six years and first met after crossing paths in their local supermarket.
Since then, Jenna’s online presence as @jennawiththepink has continued to grow, while Yorke has actively pursued his career in music.
Prior to their appearance on the show, the couple teased their joint participation on The Voice, announcing they had both auditioned to TikTok in early August.
