Love Island Australia is no stranger to twists, turns and drama that leave islanders (and us at home) completely shook.

But what no one expected in 2025 was two very fresh exes having to face each other in one of the toughest dating environments on TV.

WHO chatted exclusively with Yana, aka Sydney Plumber Chick, whose Love Island journey is already proving to be tougher than most.

“I was so mind-blown. I was not expecting it at all,” she admitted to seeing her ex, Kye, enter the villa. “That was probably the lowest time of my life… I’ve never felt that kind of pain before.”

The pair had been dating for a year before their split, with Yana entering the villa in the hope of finding a fresh chance at love.

“With the whole Kye situation — that guy played a lot of mind games on me at the time that we were together.

“So I thought applying to Love Island and going on this new experience would finally get me out there, get me back into the whole dating scene, as well as helping me get over everything that I went through with Kye.”

Of course, Love Island had other plans, with Kye also from the Northern Beaches getting the call-up to spend a hot and sinful summer in Spain.

“Kye very much keeps to himself; he’s very quiet, not on social media and so it was definitely a big shock to see him enter.”

“Seeing him with Lacey was also really hard. She was so manipulative, and it made me question everything,” Yana shared. “I even packed my bags at one point. I was like, ‘I have better things to do at home. I didn’t want to be sitting there watching my ex-boyfriend fall into a relationship.’”

But Yana wasn’t about to let a little ex-factor ruin her chance at love. “I thought, I want Love Island to actually kick me out — I’m not going to walk out of this,” she said.
