That’s especially true given this third season of eight episodes sticks more or less to the show’s established formula. How the series maintains interest, though, is in its casting, with the personal stories of the people receiving a make-better showcasing a diverse array of experiences and opportunities for self-improvement.
Included this season, which sees the Fab 5 based in Kansas City, Missouri, instead of Atlanta, Georgia, are a female prison guard, a man-child professional camper and a pair of sisters who run a barbecue restaurant – the first duo tackled by the team.
Throw in a wedding and an impending birth, and it’s a season that’s high on emotion and personal growth, which, as we said, is exactly what we’ve come to expect. (On Netflix from Fri., Mar. 15) 4 stars
