Amid the shock news that Scott Disick and his girlfriend of three years, Sofia Richie, called it quits late last month, it seems the self-proclaimed ‘Lord’ has taken no time to move on … picking up where he left off with his ex, Kourtney Kardashian!

Rumours about the state of Disick and Richie’s three-year relationship began to swirl in the days following his May 4 exit from a rehab facility in Colorado, with a source telling WHO: “They’re taking a break right now so Scott can just focus on the most important things in his life – his health and his kids. Scott is working on his issues. Sofia is hanging out with friends. It was Sofia’s choice to take a break.”
It now seems there might , however, be something more behind the pair’s split, with Disick taking off on a getaway with Kardashian, 41, and their three children – Mason, 10, Penelope, 7 and Reign, 5 – at the Amangiri resort in Lake Powell, Utah, shortly after he left rehab.
“Kourtney knows how to handle Scott, and he is always in a better headspace when he gets to spend time with his kids,” an insider told E! News of their three-day trip to the desert.
“She has really been there for him since his rehab exit and has had a lot of sympathy towards him.”
Disick then celebrated his 37th birthday on May 26 at home in Los Angeles with his kids and Kourtney, plus her famous family, including Kylie Jenner and Khloé Kardashian.
“The entire Kardashian family is in his corner and wants him to get things turned around. He’s got a support system, no matter what,” says the WHO source. “Everyone loves him and wants him to get better.”
Just one day later, it was confirmed by multiple sources that Disick and Richie, 21, had officially called it quits.
“Sofia noticed that he wasn’t doing well and gave him an ultimatum,” a source told Us Weekly. “And in the end, it seemed like Scott was more focused on Kourtney and his kids than her.”
Another insider agreed that the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star, who dated Disick from 2006 to 2015, played a part in Richie’s decision to end her relationship.
“Kourtney didn’t make it easy for her,” the source told Page Six. “And you can only tolerate that kind of treatment for so long.”
A year ago, Kourtney Kardashian told Paper that her amicable relationship with her ex was “probably the thing I’m most proud of”.
Her feelings towards Richie had softened over time, too, with the pair even travelling together several times as a modern family, including trips to Mexico and Finland.
“They spend a ton of time together, and Kourtney is comfortable with Sofia around the kids,” a source told People in 2018.
“Scott and Kourtney have gotten along really well for a long time. They spend time together with Sofia and it isn’t weird.”
Richie, too, felt that keeping the peace with her partner’s ex was not a big deal. “I mean, just be nice,” she told Cosmopolitan of her strategy for getting along.
“There’s no reason not to be nice.” Still, Richie allegedly struggled sometimes with her boyfriend’s ongoing affection for his ex.
“Scott is always going to be in love with Kourtney, and that’s something Sofia has had to face since even before she got serious with him,” said the Us Weekly source. “It’s been an ongoing thing.”
But with another source now revealing to Us Weekly that Disick and Richie are having a hard time letting go, could there be more heartache waiting to happen?
“They have been staying in touch and texting since they split,” says the insider. “Their friends think that there is a big chance they could get back together at some point.”
What the future holds for Disick and Kardashian remains up in the air.
“Kourtney has always been hesitant about getting back together with Scott or letting him in, in a romantic sense,” says the Us Weekly source.
“Kourtney wants the best for Scott and knows they’ve been through the wringer together. She lets him in – but at an arm’s length … first love is not something you just wash away.”
