Selena Gomez is getting real about her body transformation.

Taking to her Instagram stories on January 23, the star reflected on how her figure has changed by sharing two images of herself in a swimsuit taken ten years apart.

“Today, I realised I will never look like this again…” the 31-year-old captioned the first shot, which showed her poolside in a zebra-striped ensemble in 2013.

She followed that shot up with a second photograph of herself in black, high-waisted bikini bottoms, which was taken last year while she was on holidays in Mexico.

Alongside the snap, the star shared a more empowering message.

“I’m not perfect, but I am proud to be who I am,” she wrote. “Sometimes I forget it’s ok to be me.”

The Only Murders in the Building actress has been quite candid with her body image battle over the years.

After undergoing a kidney transplant in 2017 due to complications from her lupus diagnosis, Gomez said she experiences “weight fluctuations” from the medication she takes to treat her condition – which in turn affects how she feels about herself.

“I have lupus and deal with kidney issues and high blood pressure, so I deal with a lot of health issues, and for me that’s when I really started noticing more of the body image stuff,” she told pal Raquelle Stevens on her video podcast Giving Back Generation in November 2019.

“It’s the medication I have to take for the rest of my life — it depends on even the month, to be honest,” she continued.

“So for me, I really noticed when people started attacking me for that. And in reality, that’s just my truth. I fluctuate.”

And while the star has confessed that the public commentary on her fluctuating figure “got to me big time”, Gomez has since made a habit of hitting back at body-shamers who criticised her appearance.

“Honestly, I don’t care about my weight because people bitch about it anyway,” she said in her TikTok Stories in 2022.

“‘You’re too small,’ ‘you’re too big,’ ‘that doesn’t fit.’ ‘Meh meh meh meh.’ Bitch, I am perfect the way I am. Moral of the story? Bye.”
