Sex and the City’s Mr Big is based on a real person

The author of the novel has confirmed.

In the last few months, there’s been nothing but drama surrounding the Sex and the City cast.

But on a lighter note, it has now been revealed that Mr Big— the mysterious character we all love to hate— was in fact based on a real-life figure! 

Candace Bushnell, the author of the novel behind the television series and subsequent films, said that the character played by actor Chris North was inspired by her ex-boyfriend Ron Galotti— a notorious high flying playboy and big shot magazine executive who was once the publisher for Vogue and GQ.

“He was one of those New York guys with a big personality—you just notice him as soon as he walks in the room,” Bushnell, who met Galotti in 1995, New York Magazine.“I called him Mr Big because he was like a big man on campus.”

Together for over a year, Bushnell shared the intimate details of their relationship in her “Sex and the City” column in the New York Observer.

From preferring to stay home and indulge in low key activities, to his mysterious personality and enjoyment for the finer things in life, now that we are aware of Galotti’s characteristics and mannerisms, it’s pretty obvious Big’s the mirror image of him.

If you’re not up with all the previous drama involving the cast, here’s what’s been happening recently: Kim Cattrall admitted she was never friends with her SATC co-stars. Days later, Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker got into a nasty fight which was plastered all over Twitter and Instagram. SJP told WHO the feud is over, Cattrall continued to take jabs at the “Divorce” actress.

Then news surfaced that producers planned to kill off Mr Big in the threequel. However, after Cattrall claimed her storyline was underwhelming, the chatter surrounding Sex and the City 3 quickly dissipated.
