Sienna Miller has faced some turbulent times. There was her messy, high-profile relationship with Jude Law in the early noughties and a tough split last year with actor Tom Sturridge—father to her daughter, Marlowe—and now, the 34-year-old has admitted to going to therapy to “clear the noise”.
“I just got to a point where. . .I couldn’t dig myself out, I couldn’t make decisions,” she told Porter magazine. “I felt pretty assaulted by life and not in control.”
Returning from therapy, which the actress described as ” terrifying but extraordinary,” Miller spoke about how close she came to mirroring the tragic story of singer Amy Winehouse, who died in 2011 after battling addictions.
“Thank God I actually survived it,” said Miller. “I watched that Amy Winehouse documentary and, not to compare myself, but there was footage that… it was a similar time, and you just lose your mind. It basically perpetuates all the behaviour that it wants.”
Her life now is quite “idyllic”, according to the actress. She has a country residence where she cooks and spends time with friends, including Burnt co-star Bradley Cooper who describes her as “little Napoleon”.
“I stand up for myself, that’s what he’s referring to,” clarified Miller.
Within her new healthy headspace, the star is clucky for her second baby. And Marlowe, 3, is keen on becoming a big sister: “I would love more, I’m suddenly feeling very broody for more babies, and my daughter’s desperate to have a sibling.”
As for her love life, the dust has settled on her relationship with ex-fiancé Jude Law, who famously cheated on her with the nanny of his children. Miller admitted she still “cares enormously for him”, although the pair aren’t in regular contact. As for what she’s looking for in a partner, “I like intelligence,” she said. “It’s the only thing I’ve ever been attracted to.”
