This season when the cameras start rolling on Love Island Australia, a completely different Sophie Monk will appear on the screen.

While last year she hosted the first season of the show fresh from her breakup with The Bachelorette winner Stu Laundy, this year, the 39-year-old has met The One.

The blonde bombshell met neurosurgical robotics executive Josh Gross, 40, on an aeroplane late last year and he has since relocated from the US to move into Monk’s Gold Coast home.

“It’s awesome. He’s lovely,” she tells WHO.

“He keeps me balanced. I’m crazy and he keeps me grounded. He’s like ‘you’re overthinking, relax’. Or, ‘No offence, this person doesn’t care about you, they’re not thinking about you right now, you’re overobsessing’.”

The happy couple are not only now planning a wedding, but also a family after Monk decided to freeze some of her eggs late last year as an insurance policy.

“We’re trying to decide now,” Monk says of where they plan to locate their future family home.

Sometimes I think Sydney. We might move. We’re deciding that. From a business perspective [Sydney is] better. Being on the Gold Coast is awesome, but I don’t know anyone. We just hang out at the BP. The 7/11 coffee, it’s $1. If you bring a cup, it’s free.”

It’s a big year for the actress, TV presenter, singer and businesswoman, who will celebrate her 40th birthday in December. “I feel 100,” she says, laughing. “I mean in terms of experiences!”

Monk’s 40th will also mark 20 years in the spotlight, having built an incredible résumé despite her young age.

Here, the beloved star talks about how different her life is these days in every way, from her confidence to her career, to her love life.

When is Josh going to put a ring on it?
Oh gosh. Well, he’s hearing it every day I talk about it all the time. If he doesn’t hurry up  I couldn’t give him more of a message. It’s literally on the front page of the newspaper! You’ve been so open about freezing your eggs. It sounds like being a mother is important.

Do you still feel that way?
I do. I’ve frozen those eggs just in case because you just never know down the track, that’s what I’d say to women.

And it was successful?
I ended up with 13 in the end. A baker’s dozen. That’s just to be safe and timing. It’s only been a year and a half. Although after a year and a half, you do know if it’s for real. I do know. Maybe next year’s Love Island I’ll come on pregnant. I don’t know if that’s the image [Laughs].

Were you and Josh together when you were hosting Love Island last year?
No, I didn’t meet him until afterwards.
