Sophie Monk surprised everyone when she and fiancé Joshua Gross announced they’d “eloped-ish at home” and now the former Bachelorette has spilled intimate details from their very intimate day.
Speaking to Kyle and Jackie O on Tuesday morning, the newlywed, who had no guests in attendance apart from their pet dog Bluey, revealed that the day was “really stress-free”.
Preparation in the lead-up to the wedding taking around two weeks and after exchanging vows, the couple were served a gourmet meal whipped up by a professional chef.
“We had like a seven-course meal or something with different wines, the fancy wine that doesn’t give you a rash,” she laughed.
The Beauty and The Geek host also revealed she had two dresses on the big day and that her J’Aton Couture gown was flown in the night before but her second one wasn’t quite as glamorous.
“I actually put a different dress on that I’ve had for years. It’s comfy, like an eating dress,” Sophie admitted.
“I just unzipped it to let some room in, with my Uggs. Josh was like ‘Can you please stay in the dress for as long as you can?’ but after the photos I was out of it.”
Sophie, who won’t be taking on her husband’s surname, also revealed that it was always in their plan for it to be just the two of them on their big day after celebrating with loved ones at their engagement party.
“We always planned on doing it by ourselves, I don’t think you’re going to change your wedding plans for anyone, are you?”
In early April, Sophie and Joshua broke the news that they’d officially become husband and wife on their respective Instagram accounts.
“I HAVE A HUBBY!” Sophie exclaimed in her caption.
“We eloped-ish at home. I can’t believe I met him on a plane! It’s crazy. Best flight of my life! I really do believe everything happens for a reason.
“I love you @joshuargross thanks for putting up with how messy, disorganised and lazy I am. Youre my best friend in the world AND you are welcome for how hilarious my jokes are and how I absolutely smash you in Xbox F1! We’re both lucky.”
Meanwhile Josh simply penned: “Sophie, I love you. Now and forever.”
The couple met in 2018 whilst flying on a business class flight and announced their engagement in January last year.
“@joshuargross and I are so happy. Josh designed a very personal ring with my favourite Aussie designer @luke_rose_jewellery and I LOVE IT ❤️,” she wrote at the time.
