Her romance with Grant Crapp may have ended in disaster but Love Island star Tayla Damir is officially off the market and has announced her engagement to boyfriend Nathan Broad.
Taking to Instagram, the 24-year-old shared a video of the sweet moment her AFL player beau popped the question as well as the first pic of the ring.
“My forever 💎 @nathanbroad,” she captioned the post.
“I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with my best friend ❤️”
Tayla’s fans and followers were quick to congratulate her on the happy news.
“Awww congratulations 😍,” penned Love Island host Sophie Monk, who announced her own engagement a few months prior.
“Omg perfect! Congratulations you two. 👏,” exclaimed Married At First Sight‘s Martha Kalifatids.
“Wait. Whaaaaaaaaat. OMG! Didn’t see that coming at the start of the video. 😂 Congrats hunny. Beautiful news. So happy for you 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕,” noted AFL WAG Bec Judd.
Nathan revealed in his own Instagram post that the pandemic dashed his original proposal plans.
“Covid ruined the first plan but it was never going to stop me from proposing to my best friend. Knew these cameras would come in handy one day,” he wrote.
“Love you forever Tay ❤️💍”
The couple have been dating for over a year and now live together in Melbourne.
In December, Tayla shared an adorable montage of the couple captioning it: “Life’s thrown us some challenges this year. 3 quarantines, living in 3 states and being separated for over 3 months didn’t even come close to putting a dent in my love for you.
“Thanks for making what should have been a horrible year, completely worth it.”
She also hinted that an engagement was on the cards when she shared a post for Nathan on his April birthday.
“Happy birthday to my favourite human💜 Can’t wait to grow old and wrinkled with you 👵🏽👴🏼,” she wrote.
Speaking on the Shameless podcast in January, Tayla confessed that her split with Grant Crapp, with whom she won the first season of Love Island with, wasn’t heartbreak in her eyes.
“In the nicest way possible, that wasn’t heartbreak to me, that was more embarrassment. That was more ‘Ok this situation sucks and I fell for this,’” she said.
“It was six weeks – it was not ‘This is the person that I’m going to marry.’ Yes it felt like that being trapped in a little bubble at the time but then coming out and realising that I felt so much more heartbreak over past relationships, I looked at this as ‘You know what, you’re nothing, get away from me.’”
Grant, meanwhile, welcomed his daughter Charli with partner Lucy Cartwright in April. The Love Island winner infamously had a secret relationship with Lucy during his time on the show.
