Taylor Swift may not have attended the MTV Video Music Awards, but she’s still attending to very important matters – namely, jury duty.

While serving her civic duty in Nashville, Tennessee, Swift took a selfie with a fellow juror (and fan), who officially had the best time anyone has ever had on jury duty. A Twitter user posted the photo of her mum and Swift beaming, writing, “My mum just casually has jury duty with Taylor SWIFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” And all 16 exclamation points are totally justified in this instance.

The fan tells WHO that Swift, 26, was very friendly with the fellow jurors – her mum included.

“She signed some things and met some people,” she said. “And yes [my mom] is so lucky! I’m really jealous.”

Another user posted a video of Swift at the table with her fellow jurors, while one woman tells Swift she was listening to her song on the car ride over. She also posted photos of Swift taking selfies and giving autographs.

Unfortunately for Swift’s fans at the courthouse, the excitement was short-lived.

According to a courthouse witness, Swift “was part of the panel of prospective jurors on a case with charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated rape and aggravated domestic assault. Therefore, the judge excused Ms. Swift because of her pending sexual assault cause against Mr. Mueller.”

Last fall, the singer filed a counter suit against David Mueller, a radio host who allegedly groped her during a meet-and-greet in 2013. Mueller had filed a suit against her claiming he was fired by his job and banned from the star’s concerts based on false allegations he groped Swift before her concert at the Pepsi Center in June 2013.

As for Swift’s absence from the VMAs, a source close to the singer and the show told WHO “Taylor was never scheduled to attend the VMAs.” But the singer’s presence was certainly felt – Kanye West addressed their past drama in his four minute speech.

“You know, like, people come up to me like, ‘Yeah, that’s right! Take Taylor!’ But bro, like, I love all y’all. That’s why I called her,” West said.
