Things got heated during the first cocktail party of the season after “boss lady” Areeba unapologetically interrupted a chat between Locky and Zoe-Clare.
And it sent Zoe-Clare into a fury.
“I’m the only redhead in the whole entire house… The only colours are blonde or brunette, and then there’s me. I think that’s exactly why Areeba is targeting me. It’s the red hair. It’s just…it’s not appropriate,” Zoe said.
The 23-year-old went as far as to claim she was being discriminated against because of her hair colour.
“I don’t want to go through this experience being different because… this sounds so stupid, but because of the colour of my goddamn hair,” she added.
Now, past Bachelor and Bachelor In Paradise star, Abbie Chatfield has slammed Zoe-Clare’s rant.
Commenting in response to a Pedestrian article about the moment, she wrote: “The white privilege is too much”.
She also shared a meme to her Instagram story comparing Zoe-Clare and American civil rights icon, Rosa Parks.
Abbie wasn’t the only viewer not tolerating the out of touch comments.
“Zoe can’t handle that a brown girl even had the AUDACITY to interrupt a white girlfriend and since she’s so threatened by Areeba being ‘different’ she had to make being a minority about herself lol,” one Twitter user wrote.
“Somewhere, Pauline Hanson is skulling a XXXX saying “preach” another wrote.
“Zoe calling out one of the only POC for being racist against her hair colour is truly wild. Oh the caucasity,” a third commented.
Fans were also quick to point out that The Bachelor franchise is yet to change its much talked about diversity issue.
“We asked for diversity and the bachelor was like okay bet here’s a ranga,” one viewer pointed out.
