Meet 28-year-old Gemma White, a property manager from Queensland who was crowned Miss Australia Continents in 2018.
The blonde beauty describes herself as a philanthropist who is passionate about spreading positivity throughout the world.
Before her days on The Bachelorshe travelled the globe, teaching English in Cambodia and winning that all important Miss Australia Continent crown.
“To have my name called as the winner of Miss Australia Continents was a realisation of all my hard work and volunteering and that everything I love has all come together,” Gemma told The Courier Mail in 2017.
Gemma has also judged numerous pageants herself and revealed that the biggest benefits from her time in the world of pageants has been the people she has met along the way.
“I’m incredibly grateful for everything that has evolved throughout my reign and years in pageantry. I’ve met some of my best friends and some of the most inspiring people through my involvement with pageants,” she said, adding that the beauty queen she most admires is former Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins.
But it hasn’t all been tiaras and ballgowns for Gemma, who admitted that she was bullied and fat-shamed when she was only 15.
In a 2017 interview with The Courier Mail, the 28-year-old was the ambassador for anti-bullying I Can I Will and revealed she lost 26kg as a result of being bullied herself.
“I was 26kg heavier than I am now. There’s nothing wrong with being bigger or smaller, but it’s a matter of being happy,” she told the publication.
“I was huge compared to everyone else in my year and I was bullied for that, and the fact is that one in three children are bullied.”
At 15, Gemma started her weight loss journey and two years later joined a deportment and modelling school, but she was still tormented over her body.
“I then copped bullying on the other side with people saying, ‘Oh, she must be bulimic’, but I was able to overcome that,” she explained.
In 2017, Gemma’s health took a turn once more and she revealed she’s battled autoimmune diseases Crohn’s disease and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Since then, she’s “since been on a natural path of recovery” to get her body back in balance.
“I have had to knuckle down on my diet even more and whilst there has been a lot of change for me in the past couple of years I have learnt so much about myself and life in general,” she penned on Instagram.
“We can only ever be grateful for all the lessons life throws our way, for everything happens for a reason.”
It seems like The Bachelor is right up Gemma’s alley, who describes her perfect date as “something by the water, maybe a helicopter or yacht to a secluded beach” with plenty of good banter.
And she and Locky sound like the perfect match, on paper at least.
When asked to describe her perfect man, she said: “Someone who is outgoing, motivated, passionate, loving and driven, but also doesn’t take life all too seriously.”
“I guess you could say a bit of a goof ball and someone I can have a laugh with every day. The physical attraction also needs to be there and ideally someone taller than me.”
Locky certainly ticks that last box, stay tuned to see if there’s romance between the pair!
