They were reality TV’s most promising couple, however after less than six months together, Matt Agnew and Chelsie McLeod confirmed last week they’d called time on their whirlwind romance.

Now, amid speculation the hunky astrophysicist was unfaithful and Chelsie was blindsided by their split, an insider just revealed Matt understood from day dot they’d never stand the test of time.
According to New Idea’s source, the 32-year-old knew after one of the first rose ceremonies he didn’t intend to choose any of the women vying for his heart, however, a strict clause in his Network 10 contract prevented him from pulling a Honey Badger.
“He wanted to choose no-one, but obviously it was in his contract that he had to choose someone, so producers pushed him to pick Chelsie because she was the safe bet,” the source dished. “If it happened two years in a row, the whole franchise would be done.”
As per the insider, Matt was forced by producers to give scientist Chelsie the final rose, promising to stay with her until The Bachelor finale played out on our screens.
“If they announced their split during Angie’s season, it would have put a bad taste in viewers’ mouths and could have impacted the ratings. So, he was made to keep the act up and do the required media rounds with Chelsie until Angie’s season had finished airing.”
While little is known about their split, Chelsie implied this morning that infidelity spelled the end of their romance. Over the weekend Chelsie’s former co-star and close friend, Jessica Brody, took to Instagram to share a photo of herself holding a red rose with the caption: “Me ➡️vs.➡️ Me when he tells me I’m the only girl he’s talking to. 🌹”
Clearly taking a not so subtle dig at the hunky astrophysicist, Chelise joined in on the roast leaving a comment that has everyone convinced Matt was secretly in contact with other women during their turbulent relationship— which was plagued by cheating accusations from the get-go.
“🌹 triggereddddddd,” the chemical engineer wrote.
Last season’s villain Rachael Arahill— who played an integral part in the infamous “dog c**t” scandal— also joined the chat, writing “YTG” (yeah the girls) to which Chelsie replied: “@rachaelarahill triggered is an understatement to be fair.”
Her telling yet sly comments come days after she took a swipe at Matt in a brutal Instagram post. Sharing a photo with her co-stars Nichole Wood, Helena Sauzier and Sogand Mohtat from one of the final episodes of their season, Chelsie captioned the cute snap: “Take the good with the bad.”
While we can’t say for sure, it appears as though the ‘good’ in this situation is the strong friendships she’s made and the ‘bad’ is the fact her romance Matt not only fizzled out but ended badly.
To make matters even worse, Rachael— who clearly has no time for Matt’s antics— also shaded Matt on social media, hinting her friend was blindsided by their bitter breakup.
After a fan asked Chelsie on Instagram why they decided to call time on their whirlwind romance, Rachael promptly entered the chat, replying to her comment writing: “So does Chelsie.”
New Idea’s source reaffirmed this, claiming: “Matt dumped her out of the blue and didn’t give her any real reason. He just said that they were ‘going in different directions’. He’d been distant for a number of weeks, but Chelsie did not expect him to abruptly end things. She is completely heartbroken but she’s putting on a brave face.”
