The 2021 season of The Bachelorette Australia will be a first for a few reasons.

Not only is it the first time in franchise history that a bisexual Bachelorette will be met by both male and female contestants, but Brooke will also be the first Aboriginal person to lead the show.

“I’ve done it twice before and now, having the opportunity to choose my person and who I want in my life, is a truly unique and special experience,” Brooke has said of the opportunity.

“I’m so excited and hope that I finally find that person I’ve been waiting for.”

While there are many reasons for fans to celebrate the new season, it will also be an emotional journey due to the loss of Brooke’s sister during filming.

The tragic passing of her sister, Kye, saw Brooke temporarily leave the show to be with her family in Perth.

Crediting the production team for working ‘tirelessly’ to get her there, Brooke was able to attend her sister’s funeral on a ‘G2G Pass’ due to Western Australia’s strict border closures.

“Kye was my biggest hero, my big sister and yesterday we said goodbye to our angel leaving earth side,” Brooke wrote at the time.

The star recently opened up on how she has been coping with the loss.

“Ways I’ve been dealing with grief is spending time with the people I love the most, being gentle on myself, pacing myself, expressing it,” she wrote on Instagram. “I’ve gone in waves, but that’s okay. I’m happy sad (happy for a lot of things but sad about some) and that’s A O K.”

With the show recently wrapping up and Brooke returning to Melbourne, the star is now excited for the show to premiere, posting on Instagram that she’s “casually waiting.”
