Courtney and Sev found themselves caught in the middle of some early-season drama after striking a deal with rival contestant Rosco that did not quite unfold as promised.
The agreement appeared straightforward enough at the beginning.
Courtney would allow Rosco and Lisa to use her waterproofer in exchange for help from a chippy.
Unfortunately for Courtney, Rosco failed to hold up his end of the bargain, leaving her feeling well and truly “snaked”.
And because subtlety has never built a winning Block house, she also branded the rival team “dogs”.
While the exchange may have appeared heated, Courtney exclusively told WHO that she and Sev had always planned to take an aggressive approach to the competition.
“We knew what was at play and we were always going to be aggressive,” she said.
What happened between Courtney and Rosco on The Block?
With every team racing to finish their rooms on time, access to reliable trades is almost as valuable as the show’s prize money.
When Rosco needed a waterproofer, Courtney agreed to help on the understanding that she would receive a chippy in return.
It was a mutually beneficial arrangement, at least in theory.
When the promised help failed to arrive, however, Courtney quickly realised the deal was looking rather one-sided.
Her reaction made one thing very clear: if you make a bargain with Courtney, you had better come prepared to deliver.
Courtney admits she was focused on winning The Block
Speaking to WHO, Courtney explained that the pressure of the competition left little room for her and Sev to worry about what the other teams needed.
“It was very competitive, and so I don’t think we were conscious of what was going on around us and how to support them,” she said.
“We were just hell for leather. We were just thinking about ourselves and throwing everything that we could.”
It may not be the most diplomatic strategy, but The Block is ultimately a competition, and Courtney and Sev did not arrive in Mount Eliza simply to make friends and loan out their trades.
Still, Courtney’s willingness to call out Rosco suggests any future agreements between the teams may require more than a handshake.
Perhaps they should get the next one in writing.
