We’re now in the thick of The Block renovations, and while we enjoy all the mishaps and drama, it seems some fans among us want to be nasty towards the contestants.
There tends to be one or two contestants every year who get picked on by the public, with online vitriol getting so bad last year for couple Alicia and Sonny that the former broke down in tears during post-auction interviews.
2024 was no different, with fans expressing frustration at the group in general, but also singling Kylie out for her attitude.
So it comes as no surprise that the trend is continuing this year, and some fans have their sights firmly on Tayla — the bubbly 32-year-old from Melbourne.
Thankfully, the personal trainer had an epic comeback to the hate and told WHO exactly what she thought of people grumbling about her.
What are (some) fans saying about The Block’s Tayla?
Right off the bat, Tayla’s big personality shone through our screens.
She was so excited to first meet host Scotty Cam that she ran up and leapt into his arms.
She also called Courtney and Sev “sexy, sexy ladies” when she first met them, and overall, had an enthusiastic response to the renovations as they started.
We’ve seen her dancing on the site, and even heading to the beach for an ocean dip since it was her ‘birthday weekend’.
Fans pointed out that she continues to do little work while her dad, Rick, is left to pick up the slack. Some have even coined him the first “solo contestant” on the show since her contribution to the house renovation is so little.
“She’s driving me nuts,” one viewer said, while another wrote they were “over all the screaming”.

Tayla makes no apologies for her ‘good energy’
Tayla acknowledged that her extroverted ways can sometimes catch people off-guard, but ultimately, she sees her optimism as a good thing.
“I think at the start, everyone was like, ‘She’s a bit much’. And I think that comes from an underlying ADHD problem,” she said.
“But I think I did ended up helping; not so much the contestants, but the workers on the show. I ended up becoming besties with all of them because I brought good energy to the show.”
