If there’s one thing The Block fans have become very good at, it’s keeping receipts.
After the latest room reveals, viewers think they’ve spotted a pretty big problem with the judging, arguing that the rules seem to change depending on which house they’re standing in.
The judges — Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer and Marty Fox — had plenty to say as Blockheads unveiled their living, dining and terrace spaces, with everything from furniture placement to BBQs coming under scrutiny.
But while the judges were busy handing out their verdicts, viewers were busy questioning the verdicts themselves.
Fans spot a problem with the judges’ feedback
The judges previously criticised Adam and Jolene for not having a BBQ on their alfresco, but then told Lisa and Rosco they didn’t need one because they already had a kitchen nearby. So, naturally, viewers weren’t exactly sure what to make of it.
“One house gets shafted for NOT having a BBQ and another gets shafted FOR having a BBQ!!” one viewer wrote.
Another added: “Am I wrong or did the judges put Adam and Jolene down for not having a bbq on the alfresco but now on Lisa and Rosco they’re saying the bbq isn’t needed cos they have the kitchen right there!”
Fair question, honestly.

Fans think the judging is becoming ‘petty’
The BBQ wasn’t the only thing getting under viewers’ skin. Throughout the reveals, the judges picked apart everything from dining table positions and furniture layouts to how well each room made use of the views.
While constructive feedback is hardly new on The Block, some viewers felt the judging had become less about the overall spaces and more about finding something — anything — to criticise.
“The judging is pretty petty,” one viewer wrote, while another complained that the judges “contradict each other and their scores don’t match their comments”.

Another compared the judging panel to “being in year nine at school” and called it “the bitchy year”. Ouch.
It seems fans feel there’s no winning with these judges
For some fans, the problem seems to be that contestants simply can’t win.
One minute they’re being told to make the most of their multimillion-dollar views. The next they’re being criticised for positioning their furniture in a way that doesn’t suit the judges. BBQs were essential in one house, apparently unnecessary in another, while dining tables somehow became a major point of contention.
Whether you agree with the judges or not, one thing is becoming increasingly clear… The Block fans are keeping score too.
