While The Block is usually all about deadlines, drama and contestants desperately trying to get their rooms finished, there was a much sweeter storyline playing out behind the scenes.
Foreman Dan Reilly was juggling his own impending fatherhood while filming the season, eventually welcoming baby boy Fletcher, and he wasn’t the only one. Behind the scenes, Dan and members of The Block production team had formed their own little dad-to-be club.
And honestly, it’s pretty cute.
Dan revealed that several members of the production team were also expecting babies, and they were due around the same time as Dan and his wife, Dani.

“We had a camera assist and a soundman on site give birth two weeks at the side of Fletcher as well, so there was a bit of a band of us Dads which was cool,” Dan told WHO.
“It’s such a different thing on site, talking about babies and sleep and things like that.”
Suddenly, all those conversations about tradies, deadlines and building materials had some competition.
Dan even shared the special moment with Rosco
The dad-to-be bond extended to the contestants, too, with Dan revealing he shared a particularly sweet moment with House 3 contestant Rosco.
“I said, ‘how special that your baby and my baby will be born in the same year’,” Dan recalled telling him.

Lisa and Rosco discovered they were expecting their second child during the first week of filming, so their baby was along for the entire Block journey. The couple later revealed their baby, affectionately nicknamed “Wombat”, is due in mid-October, shortly before The Block‘s auction and finale.
And with so much happening on site, having other expectant dads around gave Dan something else to talk about. There was plenty of baby talk between the deadlines and renovations.
Much more wholesome than arguing over a kitchen island, that’s for sure.
