Surprise: Yvonne Strahovski is married!
The Handmaid’s Tale star broke the marriage news on the red carpet before Sunday’s Emmy awards, gushing about the big day with a smile alongside her new husband Tim Loden.
“We ended up jumping in the lake in our suit and gown, it was ridiculously hot,” the Australian actress said, noting that they wed over the summer during a heat wave. “But we had a great time.”
Loden remarked: “We all made it through and did some dancing. It was fantastic.”
The love birds usually keep their relationship private, but Strahovski couldn’t help but smile as she confirmed the wedding news.
She donned a sleek, plunging, red gown, with her locks pulled back into a tight bun. Meanwhile, Loden sported a black tuxedo and wore his long hair into a bun, too.
The dystopian Hulu series is nominated for outstanding drama series. Strahovski plays the no-nonsense Serena Joy, wife of Commander Fred, in the show.
The series is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Margaret Atwood and tells the story of life in Gilead, a modern-day totalitarian society ruled by a fundamentalist, patriarchal regime that treats women as property of the state.
The 69th Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Stephen Colbert, are airing live on CBS from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles at 8 p.m. ET.
