THE mother of all ghost stories, The Haunting of Hill House, premiered on Netflix on October 12 and reportedly has a haunting ending that even the most stoic horror fans won’t forget in a hurry.
However the 10-episode series, which reimagines American author Shirley Jackson’s classic horror novel of the same name and focuses on the five Crain siblings who all grew up in a haunted house and are left traumatised following their mother’s death, originally had a very different ending, according to actor Michiel Huisman.
“There’s been many rewrites,” Huisman told Digital Spy. “Because when I signed on, I think the outline for the whole season was there but not all the scripts. I remember at some point that we were gonna burn down the house. But that doesn’t happen. That would have been a great end too but this end is better.”
