There are a bunch of great movies coming to Netflix next month, but perhaps the best flick on the list is The Witches.
In case you need a little refresher as to the storyline, it goes a little something like this:
Based on the brilliant book by Roald Dahl, this movie follows seven-year-old Luke as he stumbles upon a convention of witches and overhears the Grand High Witch (Huston) discussing her evil plan to rid the world of children. Luke decides to ruin her evil masterplan, but not before he’s snatched and forced a potion that turns him into a mouse. While truly terrifying in parts, the fact this movie was ever marketed at kids is what’s most frightening.
No doubt the most iconic Roald Dahl adaption, interestingly, the author couldn’t stand the movie! It’s been reported that Dahl was “utterly appalled” when he saw the movie and even demanded his name be removed from the film before it was released. Apparently, he was frustrated that his novel was given a Hollywood ending— one that he did not agree with.
The timeless classic drops on Netflix in June.
