Attention, Marshmallows: a date has been announced for the reboot of Veronica Mars, with a new teaser trailer for the eight-episode revival just released. Watch the trailer below.

Starring Kristen Bell, the teen detective series, which ran for three seasons in the mid-2000s and was previously revived for a one-off movie partly funded by a Kickstarter campaign, returns to American screens on July 26, with all eight episodes available to watch at once.

In Australia, where the original seasons of Veronica Mars streams on Stan, no platform or date has yet been announced, but now the US date has been revealed, a local date can’t be too far behind.

In the new season, Mars Investigations is hired after a spate of killings. Bell has said the new episodes take place in “a much darker world, it’s going to be a bigger world.” Here is the official synopsis:

“Spring breakers are getting murdered in Neptune, thereby decimating the seaside town’s lifeblood tourist industry. After Mars Investigations is hired by the family of one of the victims to find their son’s killer, Veronica is drawn into an epic eight-episode mystery that pits the enclave’s wealthy elites, who would rather put an end to the month-long bacchanalia, against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast’s answer to Daytona Beach.”

Joining returning lead Bell are original stars Enrico Colantoni, Jason Dohring, Percy Daggs III, Francis Capra, Ken Marino and Ryan Hansen, while new actors joining the franchise include J.K. Simmons, Patton Oswalt and Bell’s The Good Place co-star Kirby Howell-Baptiste.
