To land the role of Bridgerton’s main love interest for the season is a surefire path to international recognition and a boost to an actress’ career that few other TV shows can offer. Think Phoebe Dynevor (Season 1), Simone Ashley (Season 2), and Nicola Coughlan (Seaon 3). One Aussie actress is about to get a taste of that kind of fame after being cast as Sophie Baek, previously known only as The Lady in Silver, in the Netflix period drama.
In Season 4, the Cinderella-inspired Sophie, who has worked as a maid for the most demanding employer in the Ton, captures the heart of Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) at a masquerade ball and so begins what we expect will be a season-long cat-and-mouse, will they/won’t they love story.

“What drew me to Sophie was that she immediately has obstacles — something that she constantly has to overcome,” Ha told Netlix’s Tudum. “Whether it’s this battle around social status or trying to hide her feelings from Benedict.”
While fans have been waiting years to see who would portray the role of Benedict’s love interest, Ha revealed that her process of joining the show was not quite as long, telling E! News, “What’s funny is it all happened so quickly. It all happened within the span of 10 days from my first audition to hearing that I got the role, so it was emotionally a roller coaster.”
Speaking of emotional roller coasters, the 29-year-old also revealed a little about what fans can expect to see from the season’s newest leading man, telling TV Insider, “It’s funny because there was a scene, and I literally said to Luke, ‘You’re giving Mr Darcy [from Pride and Prejudice] vibes, 100 per cent…’ I don’t think the showrunners are thinking that, but for me, I’m thinking Pride and Prejudice.”
Like the character she plays, not much is known about Ha who only made her screen debut five years ago. Read on to get to know more about her.
