Drawing from the brands' Nordic origins, the BASTUA collection is inspired by the region's nature, sauna culture and self-care rituals. The limited-edition range includes 26 self-care-inspired products which feature vibrant prints worthy of the Marimekko name.
Reflective of the bold and beautiful patterns found in nature and the sauna environment, the BASTUA print marks the first time that Marimekko has released a set of prints exclusively for a brand collaboration.
The BASTUA collection is inspired by Nordic nature.
The wellness mission of this launch is clearly evident. Consisting of staple pieces such as furniture and glassware, we're also surprised with some fun pieces such as robes, towels and a sauna bucket. The essence of Marimekko's Finnish roots are also sprinkled throughout the collection, such as the print's focal rhubarb design which nods to the country's natural flora.
BASTUA water bottle ($19), shower curtain ($25), bath sheet ($29) and tray ($20).
The collection is reasonably priced with items retailing from $2.50 for the BASTUA carrier bag and reaching $119 for the BASTUA bench and mirror. The majority of the collection sits around the $20-$40 mark.
Commenting on the upcoming collection, IKEA's Creative Leader, Henrik Most said, "Collaborating with Marimekko was a natural choice for IKEA as we are both committed to enabling a better everyday life at home, and with the BASTUA collection, it begins with focusing on wellness first."
Marimekko's Creative Director, Rebekka Bay also expressed her excitement for the collection saying, "Capturing the essence of Marimekko’s Finnish roots and its connection to the historic origins of sauna culture was a fundamental part of the design journey and the creation of the BASTUA prints."
