The famously on-and-off pair struck up a romance on the first season of Bachelor in Paradise, where Megan chose Jake to go on a date before she entered paradise.
However, their fledgling relationship was tested immediately after filming, when Jake had to return to the Gold Coast to be with his dying mother.
“Megan really did step up quite quickly … we were a very new relationship, and to be thrown into that, it’s difficult,” he said.
The pair reportedly broke up due to issues with their communication given the challenging time in Jake’s life, but would come back together again.
Another attempt at their relationship began when Jake voluntarily left the third season of Bachelor in Paradise, announcing at a rose ceremony that he wanted to try things with Megan once more.
“After what I’ve been through with my mum … you know, life’s too short – life is painfully short – and I don’t want to live it with regret.”
Sadly, Jake’s father then became gravely ill, and Megan supported him through the devastating loss of another parent, which led to their third and most-recent split.
Not long after, Megan began dating Keith Newman, a relationship she took public in January this year.
She is rumoured to be either married or engaged to him based on a bizarre Instagram caption she posted this week.
Jake stated on the podcast that he is back looking for love, but that his next relationship will probably "have the best of the relationship I had with Megan."
Here's hoping her engagement rumours will be the final kick Jake needs to finally find a new love.
