They struck up a romance only broke up just three months after the finale aired, with Megan sharing that she was “devastated” by the split in an emotional Instagram post.
"Our first kiss and first date was on a reality TV show - something I'll always treasure as a beautiful experience and as beautiful memories,” she wrote.
"The rest, in private, far exceeded the fun/romance of the show as we grew to love and respect each other, and also tease the s**t out of each other as best friends."
"We'll be keeping everything else to ourselves - sending love to everyone who has supported us," she finished.
Later that day, Jake penned a moving tribute of his own, adding that he and Megan would be taking a break from their relationship and that "words will never express the heartbreak" he feels.
Just two months later, they were back on with Jake surprising Megan by filling her apartment with roses and fairy lights and making her a home-cooked meal to celebrate her return from an eight-week stint in Bali.
"I said in Paradise that I couldn't imagine my life without you @jakeellis86 and that hasn't changed,” she wrote at the time. “You're my best friend and my home."
However, their happiness was short-lived and they split again in March 2019.
The blonde beauty shared more details with Daily Mail Australia saying that the relationship was "done" and "over" adding, "Did all of my crying for the whole of 2019. But I've been trying to keep myself busy, getting my motorbike license and getting a puppy."
"I'm really glad that we tried again, just to make sure, but when it doesn't work out... And I've never done this before. If it doesn't work out, it's over," she told the publication.
This July, Jake signed on to star in season three of Bachelor in Paradise only to dramatically quit the show in an effort to win Megan back.
“I did find love [in Paradise last time] and, if anything, this experience has taught me that I'm still in love,” he told his co-stars during a rose ceremony.
“I'm gonna take a chance, I'm gonna go fight for what I love and who I'm in love with.”
Clearly, his plan worked, as the hunk posted a photo of the pair cuddling at a luxury spa retreat in rural NSW to his Instagram account in September, captioning it with a smiley face and rose emoji.
“It's obviously been a very trying year, so, you know, we're still very close and who knows what's going to happen,” he revealed to Now To Love at the time.
