Hemsworth shares the title with Ru Paul’s Drag Race star Courtney Act as announced by PETA December 29.
“A staggering number of celebrities went vegan in 2017, so it’s been harder than ever to crown Australia’s Sexiest Vegan Celebrities,” PETA said in a statement. “In the end, there were two who stood out — not just for being sexy but, more importantly, for speaking up for animals: Liam Hemsworth and Courtney Act.”
Hemsworth,27, won the PETA US version of the award in 2016 and in 2017 continued his mission by, encouraging his Instagram followers to tune into popular documentary What The Health.
“If you care about your health, animal welfare or the planet we all live on, you must watch this documentary,” wrote the star.
In the past, Hemsworth admitted that while his girlfriend Miley Cyrus is also a vocal vegan, he was inspired to change his diet after chatting to his Hunger Games co-star Woody Harrelson.
“Having grown up with a love for and connection to all animals, and having been educated on the health benefits of a plant-based diet, it only made sense for me to go vegan,” he said in an interview with Men's Fitness
“My own health, and after all the information I gathered about the mistreatment of animals, I couldn’t continue to eat meat. The more I was aware, the harder and harder it was to do. So with the facts I was gathering, and then just how I was physically feeling, I felt like I had to do something different, so I adopted this vegan-diet lifestyle.”
Fair point. Meanwhile, we'll just leave this picture of Liam chomping into a vegetarian burger here.
