The sandal of summer might not be what you think. The humble flip-flop, plugger or thong as we Aussies call it, is back but not just for walking to and from the beach or for a post-pedicure dash to the car.
This season, the rubber Havaianas along with more luxe, leather versions are meant to be dressed up and worn everywhere but under the beach showers. Stars like Zoe Kravitz, Kendall and Kylie Jenner have been embracing the sandal trend showing us how to style it with a cool $650 dollar pair of rubber flip-flops from The Row.
However, with a cult following already, this beach culture trend isn’t one you need to spend over $100 on. In fact, you probably already have a pair so consider it a low-commitment trend.
Even though this thong style is everywhere, you still might be a slide girl. Just last year the Hermes Oran sandal was the hottest sandal to slide into and wear all summer long. The ‘H’ shaped strap across the toe in a variety of leather colours including the most popular, tan and white, was not only on every star’s foot but also reached ‘dupe’ status with many affordable high-street brands taking inspiration.
