Yes, yes we know celebs have access to nannies and personal trainers and chefs and blah blah blah, but some of their healthy habits are totes free – and they work!
Check out some of our fave’s we’re practicing right now. Ommm…..
Angelina Jolie and Mediation
Research shows meditation has numerous benefits, including reducing stress and anxiety, improve attention, concentration and learning outcomes and overall psychological well-being.
Angelina knows the score. She told Stylist: “I find meditation in sitting on the floor with the kids colouring for an hour, or going on the trampoline. You do what you love, that makes you happy, and that gives you your meditation.”
So pull up a piece of pile and let yourself become hypnotised by the kids’ crayons! BONUS: You get to tick homework off the list simultaneously.
Miranda Kerr’s Sleep Sanctuary
Getting your 7-9 hours sleep every night is easier said than done for many people. In fact, research by Flinders University’s Adelaide Institute for Sleep Health shows that sleep issue today are so prevalent that the two most common disorders – obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and insomnia –cost the Australian economy well over $30 billion per year. Then there’s the mounting evidence of electronic sleep disruptors, which cause alertness, open our retinas when they should be shutting up shop and resting for the night and more.
‘Nuf said! Miranda Kerr has the right idea though. She creates a sleep sanctuary and switches it all off – electronic devices, lights, the whole world!
“[It’s] lights off, Wi-Fi off, phone on airplane mode and I can get into bed and cuddle my husband,” Miranda told marieclaire.com.au. “If I can’t fall asleep I will put my eye mask and earplugs in, which is also a little ritual for me because of travelling so much on the airplane. Once I do that then, okay, I’m out.”
And to seal the deal, err, eyelids, Miranda also sprays a little calming lavender mist on her face and pillow.
Chrissy Teigen’s Post-baby Body Acceptance
Our body’s change throughout our life stage, and never so rapidly as during the pregnancy phase. For us mere-mortals, getting our pre-baby body back is a fulltime job – and for a lot us that never happens. So it’s nothing short of refreshing to hear Chrissy – body beautiful – Teigen (yes, world famous bikini model) accepting her body-after-baby changes. In an interview with Good Housekeeping in January, just a few months after welcoming her son, Miles to the world, Chrissy said: “I’m not blind: I see my body, I see the difference in shape, I see that I gained weight. But I also see with those same eyes that I have a beautiful baby boy and an amazing little girl, and I am very happy.” On her new attitude body-acceptance approach she said, “This is a new thing that I can change within my mind, that I don’t have to be a swimsuit model anymore. I get to be a mummy, cook and meet incredible people and I’m happy to be going through this transition.”
Elsa Pataky on Exercising To Feel Good
When the Spanish actress and producer Elsa Pataky graced the front of Women’s Health in March, she revealed a whole load of details about her philosophy and balanced approach to health, food and fitness. But we were particularly enthralled by her ‘exercising to feel good mindset’.
The full-time mum to her three children, India, six years old, and Sasha and Tristan, both four years old she has with husband Chris Hemsworth says she exercises to “feel strong” and energised. “When you start working out and your body’s changing and achieving your goals that’s such a great thing. I can’t be without training for more than two weeks – I just get really nervous and my energy starts to go down. So, I think that’s the motivation – feeling better and just being happy with you and knowing you’re healthy. ”
