I think we all gazed in absolute awe when Kylie Jenner stepped onto the Victoria’s Secret runway wearing none other than the iconic Fantasy Bra.
It marked the first time in eight years that a Fantasy Bra had graced the runway, and it was the most expensive one yet.
Set with 91 large white diamonds, Kylie’s US$50 million (approximately A$71.7 million) Victoria’s Secret bra had us all obsessed. But with a price tag like that, the Fantasy Bra is, for most of us, just that: a fantasy.
Now, we have the inside scoop that Diamonds Factory is taking it upon itself to recreate the iconic piece for a whole lot less.
The jeweller tells WHO that it’s planning a made-to-measure version featuring 91 lab-grown diamonds for A$1 million — around A$70 million less than the original.
And it’s not stopping at just one bra. Diamonds Factory is also planning to launch an entire range of made-to-measure bras, designed and handcrafted to each customer’s measurements, with options to suit a range of budgets.
Pieces will range from a delicate diamond-trimmed bralette starting at A$10,000 to a statement design inspired by the runway showstopper.
The original Fantasy Bra, created by Jacob & Co., is set with 4,410 diamonds, including a 75.54-carat fancy vivid yellow centrepiece and 91 large white diamonds totalling more than 405 carats. It took 15 artisans more than 1,000 hours to create.
Diamonds Factory will draw inspiration from the original, using lab-grown diamonds to recreate the look for a fraction of the price. Its A$1 million design will feature 91 large lab-grown diamonds (matching the number of the original’s statement stones) alongside approximately 1,500 smaller diamonds.
“Kylie’s bra was the talking point of the show, and it got us thinking,” said Brad Harvey, senior regional manager at Diamonds Factory. “We make bespoke pieces every day, so nothing is impossible — including a showstopper like that. The difference is ours won’t cost $50 million.”
Brad added that creating each piece to measure means the range won’t be reserved exclusively for the super-rich.
“Not everyone is in the market for a million-dollar bra, and that’s the point of making it to measure. Whether it’s a touch of sparkle on a bridal bralette or a full runway-inspired look, we can design something to fit both the body and the budget.”
