THE much loved Daydream Island Resort will unveil its chic new look on April 15, two years after it was severly damaged by Tropical Cyclone Debbie.
Reflecting the natural beauty of its surroundings, the redeveloped and revitalised resort, located in the heart of Queensland’s Whitsunday Islands, will have 277 contemporary suites and rooms boasting garden, pool or ocean views.
True to the resort’s eco-friendly focus, free form coral lagoon, The Living Reef, will be making its return to the island and is even more spectacular.
Wrapping 200m around the central building, the lagoon is home to baby stingrays as well as hundreds of species of fish, coral, starfish and crabs, which guests can see from a new underwater observatory.
Led by food and beverage manager Adrian Tyler, Daydream will have three new signature restaurants – Infinity, Graze Interactive Dining and Inkstone Kitchen and Bar – showcasing the region’s best produce, as well as new three bars.
The Asian fusion Infinity is the resort’s premium dining option and will be open for lunch and dinner while Graze, overlooking the Living Reef, will be an interactive marketplace with live cooking stations.
Winding through lush tropical gardens, the reimagined pool area has panoramic views over the Great Barrier Reef and an eatery, Barefoot Bar, for poolgoers to refuel with gourmet burgers, sliders, smoothies and, of course, those obligatory poolside cocktails.
For those who love a little soft adventure as well as pool lounging on a tropical island getaway, there are a host of activities on offer including snorkelling adventures, helicopter tours as well a sailboat and jetski hire.
Although Daydream makes for an idyllic family getaway, the resort does have an adults-only area for those without the tribe in tow.
