Why travelling to Argentina won’t break the bank

However, in recent months, the economy has flipped meaning we can no longer use our financial situation as an excuse not to explore all the country has to offer. 

Since Argentina’s currency has plummeted 50 per cent against the Australian dollar, travel junkies have been living the high life, staying in five-star resorts, dining at fancy restaurants and enjoying world-class booze.

Four tourists, the advantage of a weaker peso means they can have more fun at a lower risk. For instance, at Don Julio— one of the most famous steakhouses in the world— the 800g T-bone steak which is the most expensive cut of meat on the menu goes for 975 pesos.

Some of the best quality wine also goes for a cheap price. Considered a top brand in Argentina, a bottle of Rutini malbec wine goes for 440 pesos ($16.80) at the local corner store. 

No doubt the peso’s decline has wreaked havoc on the locals, however, in the last three months, there has been a 12 per cent increase in foreign tourists arrival. There are even further signs that foreign tourism is set to explode, with many travel websites noticing a 50 per cent jump in searches for flights to the country.
