Doug Pray, the Emmy-Award winning filmmaker best known for his work on the documentary The Defiant Ones, will direct Love, Lizzo while Kevin Beisler, Kevin Weaver, Ryan Kroft and Nicole Rocklin will produce.
Pray also serves as a producer on the upcoming documentary, as does Stephanie Meurer, Pray’s producing partner who’s best known for her work on Uncle Frank, Between Two Ferns: The Movie and Robot Chicken.
Lizzo herself is executive producing Love, Lizzo with her production company Lizzobangers.
But Love, Lizzo isn’t the Good As Hell singer’s first foray into executive producing; she recently won an Emmy award for executive producing the reality dance show, Lizzo’s Watch Out for The Big Grrrls.
When accepting the prestigious award, Lizzo broke down in tears and said, “When I was a little girl, all I wanted to see was me in the media. Someone fat like me. Black like me. Beautiful like me.”
Lizzo also recently made history when she played a 200 year old crystal flute, once owned by the fourth President of the United States, James Madison, onstage during her Cuz I Love You Too tour.
The Library of Congress lent Lizzo, who is not only a singer/songwriter but is also a classically trained flautist, the ancient flute.
Before her performance, which took place at Radio City Music Hall at the end of September, Lizzo told the crowd that she was “ the first person to ever play” Madison’s flute.
Love, Lizzo will be available to stream from November 25 on BINGE, live and on demand with a 14 day FREE trial. START FREE TRIAL
