Liam was "married" to Georgia on MAFS season eight, but the pair didn't last outside the show.
The 29-year-old told Insight that Georgia initially took his bisexuality "on the chin".
"She was great, it was like a no issue to her whatsoever. I was really looking forward to continuing our marriage and see what our future could hold together," he said.
The former prison officer said the pair's final vows on the finale episode were a "doozy" after Georgia ultimately decided to walk away from the budding relationship.
“To be honest it was a kick in the guts to hear from my partner at the time," he said.
"I think it was a lack of understanding but I thought she knew so much because we had conversations and we spoke about it and then to hear that because I'm bisexual I might crave d**k, she might not be able to give me what I want but I'm monogamous.
"She was my partner, I wanted to be with her so you don't crave.”
The 29-year-old said that while most of the public was supportive and understanding of his sexuality, he still copped flack from homophobic trolls.
"[There were people who] didn't really understand it, who were always questioning my sexuality, who were stating now I'm actually gay you can't be bisexual, it's a transition period. So it was a mixed message," he said.
Liam said the reaction among his family was also mixed, and revealed his aunty confronted him and demanded he admit to being gay.
"My aunty at the time pulled me up and was like 'you need to tell me that you're gay. Like you are gay, you can't be bisexual, you're gay, you need to tell me this'," he said.
"She wanted me to say that I was gay when I'm not.”
The MAFS star said lack of education around bisexuality has led to misconceptions around the sexual orientation.
"I think a lot of people think that if you're bisexual, as a male - I know I've copped it - that I'm transitioning to gay," he said.
"[People think] I'm too scared to say I'm gay, that is a transitional period. It’s like no. In fact, I'm attracted to women and males, like it's how it is.”
Last week Liam finally confirmed his romance with fellow star Samuel Levi, with the two thanking fans for their support of the news.
He took to Instagram to share the news of his relationship with Samuel, by uploading a sweet photo of the two along with a heartfelt caption.
"When a country boy finds a city boy," he penned. "Life works in mysterious ways and this guy came into my life when I least expected it."
Liam went on to explain that he met Samuel early this year after the experiment, and that they "hit it off" but remained friends until recently.
While Liam starred in the Australian version of MAFS this year, Samuel starred on MAFS New Zealand in 2019.
Samuel also took to his own Instagram to confirm their relationship, uploading the same photo and wrote: "When a city boy finds his country boy."
