The love child the 64-year-old is talking about is his firstborn son, Cain Holden. Despite the new addition, the star says
his life didn’t shift dramatically. “You know, we’ve never lived... Well, that’s not true, he lived with us in LA for 18 months when he was 18, but other than that, he’s never, you know, he’s never really lived with me.”
In comparison to the relationship he now has with his daughter Katie, he knows his bond with his Cain is not as clean-cut.
“Having a daughter who’s 23, you know, I was there every single day of her life, until recently. You know, it’s different; it’s different when you don’t grow up in the same house as a child. I don’t know, because you’re there for the child when they’re not feeling good, when they’re ill, when some disaster happens and you’re not there for the child that you’re not there for,” he continues.
While he admits they are different relationships, “It’s great, we do have music that connects us and he’s played... My brother and I play quite a bit nowadays, together and Cain’s come along and played with us a few times and he’s just terrific. He just clocks it.”
