On Thursday morning, streaming giant Netflix announced its upcoming reality TV show entitled Byron Baes.

The series is all about Australia’s own wannabe Hollywood Hills, and “a ‘feed’ of hot Instagrammers living their best lives, best their best selves, creating the best drama content - #nofilter guaranteed.”

While the NSW beach-side town has become a home for some of Australia - and the world’s - hottest stars, from Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman to Zac Efron, Netflix stresses that this new show will focus on the homegrown real influencers of the Bryon Bay region.

Netflix.

“This is our love letter to Byron Bay,” Netflix said in a press release. “It’s not just Chris and Zac’s backyard, it’s the playground of more celebrity-adjacent-adjacent influencers than you can poke a selfie-stick at.”

While Netflix has yet to reveal the cast, according to the Sydney Morning Herald, Australian model Elyse Knowles is heavily rumoured.

Elsewhere, we suspect we could be seeing the likes of Courtney Adamo, Amanda Callan, Aimee Winchester, Mia Taninaka and Hana Taninaka, all of whom were featured in a Vanity Fair cover story about the surfer mums of Bangalow, New South Wales.

And, for anyone hoping for some juicy drama, don’t worry, we’re gonna get live-streams upon live-streams - and YouTube-style apologies - of it.

Not only is the series being executive produced by Emma Lamb - aka someone who worked on Married at First Sight and The Real Housewives of Sydney, the messiest shows on television - but Netflix and the show’s production company, Eureka Productions, says we can look forward to social media-charged drama every ep.

“Don’t write these baes off too quickly,” they said. “There’ll be fights, flings and heartbreak; but beneath every perfect post is a very real desire not just for ‘likes’ but to be liked, dammit, for who you are (so relatable).”

“You’ve got this cabal, or live feed as we’ve been calling it, of Instagrammers, who all live up in Byron, and there are a lot of them,” Netflix’s director of content for Australia and New Zealand, Que Minh Luu told Sydney Morning Herald.

“We’re following them as they’re going about the hustle and finding love and happiness and the validation of the people around them and people online.”

Byron Baes will release exclusively on Netflix.
