Adele’s weight loss transformation continues to stun fans with every photo she uploads, but the Grammy Award winner has come under fire over her latest snap, with many accusing the star of cultural appropriation.

Coronavirus restrictions have meant that the iconic Notting Hill carnival will not be held this year, but Adele made sure to celebrate the day with her own personal tribute.
Dressed in a bikini top with the design of the Jamaican flag, yellow feathered “wings” accessorising her back and her hair in Bantu knots, a hairstyle typically worn by black women, the 32-year-old Hello hitmaker flaunted her 44kg weight loss.
“Happy what would be Notting Hill Carnival my beloved London,” she captioned the post.
In just a few hours, Adele’s post received over two million likes and was inundated with comments, but many accused her of cultural appropriation.
“I love you Adele, but delete this and let’s pretend this didn’t happen,” one fan comment.
“I love Adele, but this ain’t it. So apparently it’s cute and trendy for a white woman to wear our hairstyles but when we do it, it’s ratchet and ghetto??” another wrote.
However, others defended the singer and commented that Adele was merely celebrating the British West Indian community.
“The Notting Hill carnival is an event that started in the 60’s to appreciate African-Caribbean culture. originally to encourage interracial relationships and acceptance after wartime. It’s been around for 50+ years. Please stop screaming ‘cultural appropriation’ so you seem woke and progressive. You don’t,” one person wrote.
“I feel like more non Jamaicans have a problem with the picture than actual Jamaicans. Gwan thru good gyal Adele!” penned another.
Adele’s weight loss has transfixed fans ever since her internet-breaking post that she shared in May for her 32nd birthday.
After sharing a photo to celebrate the release of Beyonce’s Black in King visual album, many fans lamented that Adele “doesn’t look like Adele” anymore, but her fans hit back and defended the singer.
“If she wants to lose weight then she wants to lose weight. You don’t know if it was for health reasons or personal reasons. So everyone in all sizes ZIP IT. If you want someone to gain weight so badly then you be the one to gain it. Her size doesn’t affect your life,” one wrote.
Another fan emotionally wrote: “This comment section tears my heart up. I don’t normally comment but this is absolutely ridiculous. I can understand why people are shocked and upset, but imagine if Adele was reading these comments… I think she would be deeply hurt. And for her sake, I really hope she doesn’t read them. She needs to be protected… not shamed. I read a comment saying that she isn’t ‘classy’ anymore because of her new physical appearance. What? In the photo above, it is very modest! And I’m sure her personality is as classy as ever. Quit sacrificing your human decency by commenting ugly things like that.”
Despite being in lockdown in LA, Adele has found some great ways to celebrate iconic festivals in a COVID-safe way.
To mark what would’ve been the annual Glastonbury music festival in the UK, the mum-of-one shared two images from her home, as she watched herself perform sets at previous Glastonbury festivals.
In one snap, Adele watched her 2016 set and even danced around in the exact same dress, proving she’s still got it.
