After almost ten years of dating, Andy Lee and Rebecca Harding have announced their engagement.
The couple took to Instagram to share the exciting announcement, sharing some sweet pictures together alongside the tongue-in-cheek caption; “People keep saying we’ve rushed into this but we don’t care what people say!”
Andy divulged a few more details during an episode of the Hamish & Andy Podcast, sharing with audiences that the proposal happened the previous Sunday.
“I asked Bec to marry me on Sunday,” he announced, revealing that he popped the question at their “new old house,” under the guise that they needed to film videos for social media before renovations.
Standing in front of the old marble fireplace, Andy shared that he pretended to find something inside the fireplace and produced a napkin – a nod to their initial meeting.
“When I was down there, I stayed on one knee and I gave her another napkin — because when I first met her at the café, I wrote on a napkin my details — and I gave her another napkin,” he relayed on the podcast.
During the episode, co-host Hamish Blake shared that he and wife Zoe were “crying” at the news, and once the couple shared their announcement on Instagram, more friends and fans shared celebratory messages.
Abbie Chatfiled, Anna Heinrich, Domenic Calarco and Brittany Hockley were among the hundreds of congratulatory comments on Instagram.
After meeting in a Melbourne cafe in October 2014, the couple made their public debut at the Australian Open the following January.
They split briefly in 2016 but rekindled their relationship six months later, appearing arm in arm on the Logie’s Red Carpet in April 2017.
