While Davey’s commitment to his friends is admirable, it ended up being his undoing in tonight’s episode of Bachelor In Paradise and he was sent packing by Florence. Davey tells WHO that he was “gutted” but not that surprised that Jake picked Florence over his friendship with him.
WHO: Did you watch Matty J’s season of The Bachelor? Did you know that Leah was known for being a bit wild?
DAVEY: Nah I didn’t. I heard stories but I was only going to judge when I met because you can’t just judge from reality TV.
WHO: What drew you to Leah?
DAVEY: Look, I don’t know. I guess she was one of the first contestants in there as well so, I mean it wasn’t the fact of like… I just wanted to get to meet some people and I thought I’ll just meet her.
WHO: Do you regret not picking Florence for that first date and ultimately putting your friendship with Jake first?
DAVEY: Definitely. Definitely.
WHO: How did you feel when Jake picked Florence for the date?
DAVEY: I was gutted. Truth be told, I kind of expected it.
WHO: How is your current friendship with Jake? Have his actions seriously affected the friendship?
DAVEY: It didn’t affect it because we spoke about it but I mean it did kind of jar me a little bit, it made me think a bit more about it you know, we’re wired a bit differently. It’s just such a weird environment and stuff like that, so it’s so hard to sort of, make a decision really.
WHO: Did you think that your last minute gesture of giving Flo flowers at the cocktail party prior to the rose ceremony would be enough to win Florence over?
DAVEY: It was just a nice little gesture and like you know, she was stressed and something like that… I just wanted to do something nice for her because I know she would have been really stressing about it all.
WHO: How shocked were you that Florence or Leah didn’t give you a rose?
DAVEY: I knew Leah wasn’t gonna give me one but that was fine. Look, I’ve got to respect Florence’s decision, in the scheme of things, I kind of let her down because I didn’t pick her and she thought obviously the worst of me, but now we’re spoken a bit it, she understands. She thought that I was just playing her but deep down, because I was only there for a short amount of time, she kind of had to know me a bit better to realise my loyalty.
WHO: What do you make of Leah and Mack’s new friendship?
DAVEY: I spoke to Mack, I was like Mack, dude go for it, go for gold. I’m completely fine with it. Like I said, I wanted to give Jake the time to try with Flo as well because… it sucks because I didn’t want to say goodbye. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, it didn’t work out so that’s when I tried.
WHO: Although your trip to Paradise was brief, how did you find it?
DAVEY: Amazing. The people on there are just… you grow to become like a little family. I mean I wouldn’t really take back what I did; I mean I just learnt from it.
WHO: Would you go back to Paradise if given the chance? Do you feel there is unfinished business?
DAVEY: Look, I’ve thought about this… but me and Flo talk all the time now so like, I mean it sucks but things happen for a reason. Who knows what will happen down the track.
WHO: Besides Florence and Leah, is there anyone else that caught your eye while you were in Paradise?
DAVEY: Tara’s always just the biggest legend, we got along like a house on fire. I mean everyone’s stunning on there, Lisa’s stunning, Nina, everyone. I got friendships out of it more than anything so that’s all I care about.
