Years ago Lisa Hyde had finished up filming Bachelor In Paradise and was reeling from a broken heart after being cheated on by her boyfriend Luke McLeod.
Fast-forward 12 months and the fashion designer has found love – and is expecting a baby – with her new beau, Damon Collina.
Speaking to WHO, the 32-year-old opens up about how she met her Prince Charming and how thrilled the couple are to welcome their little one later this year.
How did you meet Damon?
Through mutual friends. We officially started dating in March. I kept most of the beginning of our relationship off social media as I just wanted it to be special for us – and Damon felt the same. Sometimes, I feel social media ruins relationships, so I don’t tend to post everything we do.
What do you love most about him?
He is just the most caring and supportive human I have ever met. I’ve found myself the perfect man – I just love everything about him.
Do you feel like you’ve got your fairytale ending after the past few years?
Yes, I certainly do! I honestly feel like a princess. We get along so well. I’m so excited to start a family with him.
How excited are you to meet your little girl?
So excited, it feels so surreal that I’ll be having a baby soon. My life has already changed so much and I wouldn’t change it back for anything.
Did you have a feeling it would be a girl?
I did. It might be hard for some to believe, but I had a dream with my grandma in it – who has already passed – and she told me to be extra careful with my body as I’m pregnant with a baby girl. The next morning, I woke up and felt like the dream was so real I went and did a pregnancy test. And I guess Grandma was right! I’m pregnant with a beautiful baby girl.
Have you chosen any names yet?
I have, but I told a few people and everyone has their own opinions, and people they know with certain names, so it makes it really hard to please everyone. Damon and I have a name in mind that we love, but we are keeping this one to ourselves.
Are you guys living together?
Yes, however we are looking at buying a bigger place so that our families who live interstate can visit. We both have very busy schedules so we are going to need all the help from our families we can get.
How’s the pregnancy going?
I’ve been pretty lucky with not much morning sickness, although I do get very tired, and it’s starting to become difficult to find the energy to get through a full day’s work plus my normal workout routine. I’m exhausted! [Laughs]
How did your family react to your news?
My family were so excited. They love Damon and have welcomed him into our family. My mum was especially excited to find out I’m having a girl, maybe even more excited than me! She’s so cute.
Do you get along with Damon’s family and does he get along with yours?
I absolutely love Damon’s family. They are all so lovely and have similar values to my family, so it makes it very easy for me to fit in. Damon’s brother and sister both have kids so they have been sharing some great advice.
Did your ex, Luke McLeod, reach out to congratulate you?
No, I didn’t hear from Luke, but I did hear from most of the Bachie crew, which was so amazing to see how much love and support there is within the Bachie family.
