Bachelor In Paradise alum Jake Ellis caught up with WHO recently and confirmed he and Megan Marx are still happily in love.
WHO: There were reports you two are on the rocks, is that the case?
Jake: I honestly don’t know! I don’t know where that came from or who this source is but it’s definitely false, definitely not true.
WHO: Still going steady?
Yeah we’re great; Megan is down in Sydney for some work and I’m flying down tomorrow to be with her and to do some work. And then we’re in the middle of planning our next big overseas trip. We’re going to New Zealand together in three weeks.
WHO: How much do you think your relationship has changed since you left the Bachelor In Paradise?
I think the best thing that we did was when we left the show, we weren’t necessarily ready to make that commitment, so we left the show on our own terms. We didn’t leave together on the show and I think that was probably the best thing we ever did. At the start, it gave us the freedom and didn’t give us the pressure of having to work at the start. We could do things at our own pace and that’s been very much so the same way our relationship as worked since then. I think the only thing that’s changed is obviously we know each other a lot more and we’ve got real life plans.
WHO: Do you get along with her family?
I’ve spoken with them on the phone countless times – they’re over in Western Australia – so we haven’t had the chance to get over there, together as of yet. Megan hasn’t been back home since the past couple of months. We’re looking at hopefully going there and for me to do a big family meet and spend some time over there after our New Zealand trip.

WHO: She met your brother and your mum before she passed, how was that?
That’s something I’ll forever be grateful for, but for in our relationship Megan was definitely thrown into the deep end with that. We’d officially said we were a couple just a little bit less than a week before I lost mum. For us to start a relationship like that and for her to be thrown into the deep end with such a big support role, it made us a lot stronger. It made what we have so much more real. It’s something I’m still dealing with losing my mum and it’s something that I always will be dealing with. And Megan’s been absolutely amazing, she’s always been there to support me whatever way that is with whatever emotions I’m dealing with – so that’s such a big thing.
WHO: So you’ve very much got a real relationship post show?
Everyone has relationship challenges and I think for us our biggest goal – we understand the whole country is watching what we’re doing but we’ve always tried to keep that real perspective, we just want to be a real couple. We juts want to live our lives and do things together. Being in the public eye is a dynamic that will always play a part in our relationship, something we’re always going to be mindful of is someone is always going to have an opinion. It’s not a normal relationship where you’ve got so much more private time, whereas we have a bit less of that.
WHO: How do you feel post-show? Would you go back on reality TV?
My dating shows are over! Like, I’m done! I’m happy. I’ve found the one – my one and I couldn’t be happier! If something was to come up for Megan and I to do together or a big opportunity – we sort of look at everything as a team. I want the best for her, she wants the best for me and we want the best for us – so I’ll never say never, but it would really depend on what it was.
WHO: When we last spoke to you, you mentioned you were going to move in together – how’s it all going?
We’re living together at the moment and it’s been great! I love it, I can’t get enough of her and I hope she can’t get enough of me as well. She’s been really good because my dad’s not really well at the moment as well so Meagan has yet again been a big support with that. We’re looking towards some exciting things in future, we want to do a bit of travel but we’d like to get a puppy and doing those kinds of things are definitely conversations we’re having. But we’re still kind of keeping that mind and keeping it at our own pace.
WHO: No engagement yet then?
No! I don’t want to rush it or to spoil that surprise.
WHO: Of course, and you’re dealing with a lot personally at the moment?
For me personally It’s been a really up and down, a tough start to the year losing mum, then the show obviously came on which was obviously a good distraction, but there’s so much still happening. It’s been amazing having Megan by my side – having that relationship has been great. Because she’s been there on the Gold Coast when I see dad.
