We can’t wait to see Brittany Hockley on Bachelor in Paradise this season, but it turns out after that finale the 2018 star wasn’t keen to go back on reality TV.
“After my season, it was a hard no — there was no way I was mentally ready to go and deal with that again, I just had zero interest in it last year and I thought ‘I just need to get myself back on track’,” she told The Daily Telegraph’s Insider.
“Then I guess I was being super optimistic thinking I would fall in love in that year and I didn’t.”
But when producers first approached her to star on Paradise, Brittany revealed that it was a firm no at first.
“To be honest, I said no again. I said no right up until the last minute you could possibly say yes — fly out the next day kind of thing and that was a combination of things.”
Turns out we have Britt’s sister Sheri to thank for Brittany agreeing to star on Bachelor in Paradise.
Not only was Sheri the one who supported her after all the Honey Badger drama, but she was also the one to persuade Britt to give the show a go for a second shot at love and to show the Australian public her true self.
“I think I felt like my personality was a little bit subdued on The Bachelor, I don’t think people really got to see who I was so Sheri told me it was time to A, go and try to fall in love again because there’s 10 times more chance of that happening, and B, go and enjoy myself and try and show people who I am,” she explained.
Brittany is set to partner up in Paradise with an unlikely suitor – Timm Hanly from Angie Kent’s season of The Bachelorette.
“Timm in no way is my type. Never ever have I dated anyone like him,” she says in a recent trailer for the upcoming season.
“He really took me by surprise, there’s something about him that I want to get to know more,” she adds before sharing a steamy smooch with him in a bath.
If Paradise doesn’t work out for Brittany, perhaps we could see the brunette beauty as the Bachelorette?
“People asked me that last year straight after Bachelor – it was too soon, but now I’ve been thinking about it for the last year,” Brittany told WHO in 2019.
“I think it would be pretty cool, being in the driver’s seat and actually being able to decide to meet all these amazing people.”
