Brody Jenner has opened up about what it was really like growing up with his father, Bruce Jenner – now Caitlyn Jenner.
The 35-year-old spoke openly about his unique family situation on the latest episode of MTV’s The Hills: New Beginnings during a dinner with Brandon Lee, (Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee’s son) Shaquille O’Neal’s son, Myles, Chase McQueen (the grandson of the late Hollywood star Steve McQueen) and fellow The Hills OG Frankie Delgado.

During the dinner Delgado asked Jenner what it was like growing up with his Olympic gold medallist father.
“When I was really little, we got to spend a little time. When he started, obviously, the family with the Kardashian family, I didn’t really see much of him” the reality star said of his dad Caitlyn.
The then Bruce Jenner split from Brody’s mother, Linda Thompson in 1986 when Brody was just three years old. Bruce would later go on to marry Kris Jenner in 1991. He became stepfather to her four children Kourtney, Kim, Khloe and Robert from her first marriage to Robert Kardashian Snr. Kris and Bruce also went on to have daughters Kendall and Kylie Jenner.
Brody went on to admit that he grew to not expect too much from his father due to the long periods of absences from his life.
“Bruce was just never really around — every so often maybe once every couple years.
“Wasn’t around for my graduation, wasn’t around for most of my birthdays so, yeah, it really wasn’t any relationship. It was very surface,” he said.
“Eventually, we started to become closer but then all of a sudden, it’s like, I was just getting to know Bruce and then Bruce became Caitlyn. … She’s totally different.
“It’s awesome, it’s great. She’s happy, she’s running around. She’s off living her life, so what I’ve learned is to just not expect too much from her.”
