The New York-based model may be tipped to win this season, however the 39-year-old admits he was so badly injured during filming last year that he ‘considered pulling out’ after bleeding out into his shoes while completing that first challenge.
‘Season four I escaped injuries somehow,’ he told The Daily Telegraph.
‘But the severe weight loss the first time, then having the bulk back up for All Stars and going in there a bit heavier than I normally am, it was really insane on my body.
‘Day one I ended up with 10 stitches on my leg, after NRL star, Mat Rogers, threw an errant piece of wood that caught me on the shin.
With no access to emergency services, he said, ‘There was literally stitches on the beach and I’m back in the game.’
Last year, David admitted he lost a staggering 11 kilograms whilst filming last season’s Survivor, and by his own admission was ‘like a skeleton’ by the end of filming.
‘I was like a skeleton, man. I’m only just starting to feel normal again,’ he told The Daily Telegraph last August.
‘I’m throwing myself back into fitness so I can get back into work,’ he continued, revealing his personal trainer wife, Pearl has devised a nutritional plan to get him back in shape.
More recently, the father-of-three confessed that the show had also affected his libido.
‘It takes a big toll on the reproductive area,’ he told Survivor co-stars Phoebe Timmins and Sarah Tilleke on their podcast P.S. with Phoebe and Sarah.
Phoebe cheekily asked: ‘Are you saying you’re bad in bed?’
‘Probably right now I am,’ he responded.
