Prep like a pro

Before you get started, download the Easter baking and confectionary project sheet from the Spotlight website. It has easy to follow step-by-step instructions and a full rundown on all the equipment you’ll need, from cookie cutters to baking sheets. Whether you shop in store or online, you’ll find everything you’ll need from baking and kitchenware to the decorations, and Spotlight even stocks the biscuit mixes and chocolate buttons.

Bake it ’til you make it

Once you’re ready to roll, set up your kitchen and bench space with everything you need. The first step is to make your cookie dough. Roll it out evenly with a rolling pin and, using the egg, carrot and bunny cookie cutters, carefully press them into the dough. Place them carefully on a lined baking sheet and bake according to the packet directions. Here’s an important tip: make sure they’ve thoroughly cooled before you start decorating them or your icing and decorations will melt and slide off – and we’ve all seen those ‘baking fail’ memes…

When it’s time to do your chocolate moulds, follow the instructions carefully. Chocolate can be a little temperamental, but if you make sure you follow the easy instructions on the project sheet, and ensure your moulds are clean and dry, you’ll be popping out gorgeous little Easter eggs in no time.
