Matty and Sarah-Marie are two of our favourite Gogglebox stars, but since welcoming their adorable son Malik to the family they’ve been keeping busy and have debuted a massive transformation to their home.
Like many around the world, Matty, Sarah-Marie Fahd and Malik are spending a lot of time at home in lockdown and used the opportunity to renovate their home in Kingsgrove, South Sydney.
Both Matty and Sarah-Marie shared a before and after image of the facade of their house with marketing director Matty remarking in his caption: “It’s crazy what you can do with some paint.”
“Our goal was not to lose touch with the 1960’s style of our home but rather give it a modern facelift, and so we decided to paint the bricks instead of the more common render that would of hidden them,” he explained.
The new and improved look, however, was not done by themselves with Matty confessing they’d had professional help.
“This was not DIY, we chose to get the experts to do the work here, I would not back my painting skills or my patience for a job this big,” he joked.
Sarah-Marie shared more photos of the new exterior adding that she’s “already obsessed with the progress”.
The makeup artist mum-of-one added that they had not only painted the house and front door but also removed the carport to open up the facade of the house and changed the outdoor lights.
“We still have the front porch, garage door, driveway, fencing and landscaping to do. I can’t wait to see our end result,” she added.
Matty and Sarah-Marie, along with baby Malik and their dog Bane moved into their Kingsgrove home earlier this year.
The three-bedroom house boasts a large living room and garden and the couple kicked off the renovations with Malik’s nursery and updating the outdated metal shutters for chic plantation shutters.
“We are so bloody happy to be able to still do some renovating during this pandemic and are in love with the final product,” Matty said at the time, thanking company Shutters Dept.
Matty also planted his own agave garden and the couple have been proudly showing off their new furniture on their respective Instagram accounts.
Sarah-Marie and Matty welcomed their son Malik in November 2018, but the honour of godfather didn’t go to their Gogglebox co-star Jad. Instead, it went to Matty’s brother Kris Fahd.
“My brother-in-law was meant to come in July, because he’s Malik’s Godfather,” Sarah Marie told Lifestyle, revealing the COVID-19 restrictions had even put Malik’s Christening on hold.
“His Christening will probably be next year, we’re going to have to wait. Until Kris can actually get time off work cause he’s on a radio show there. So hopefully and God willing everything will go to plan next year,” she added.
